Adaptive Cycling of Southern Idaho is part of a national non-profit 501c(3) service organization that began in Birmingham, Alabama in 1922. The mission statement is, “Creating Mobility and Independence for People with Disabilities.” The mission is accomplished by doing community service, giving scholarships to therapists, building ramps, and by giving away therapeutic tricycles called AmTrykes.
The AmTryke Therapeutic Tricycle program was adopted as a national project in 1991. The program is about abilities, not disabilities. The AmTryke program goal is to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to ride bikes, improve motor skills, provide strength training, balance, and range of motion. Since 1991, AmTryke, LLC has become a million dollar corporation with over 12 different sizes of trykes available to help “Create Mobility and Independence for People with Disabilities” of all ages “Cradle to Gray.”
We now have the opportunity to bring AmTrykes to the Magic Valley. With your contributions and support, we will be able to give the opportunity to create mobility and independence for people with disabilities in our area.
